the SR and CA engine are pretty much the only engine that will fit without any special modification like as if you were drop in the RB series engine.

Yeah the SR and the CA are the only engine models that will fit without modification.

You know what would be a cool swap to see in a 240SX? I'd like to see the VG30DETT swap into a 240. That would be a major swap and would probably require A LOT of money to complete but it would be damn cool to see when it was done :D

that it would!! :D i was thinkiknganything for more speed, at maybe a lower price (i'm kinda broke but still really want a 240 coup)... what abut turbocharging the KA24DE? how would that be good/bad compared to the SR swap?

Many people will stay with the KA and turbocharge it instead of swapping in an SR20DET. I'm not really sure about the prices for a turbo kit for the KA but it can probably range from maybe 1500-4000. If you turbocharge the KA your going to get a lot of low end torque and it will make your car feel like a muscle car. The SR is a higher revving "race engine." It's more of an opinion as to what you want. There is a thread that I started called "SR or KA?", so you can go check that out if you want.

with that money you spend to stuff a VG in there you can put in a much more superior RB engine in there and run 10's.

Yeah I would much rather have an RB in a 240 than a VG but I'd just like to see someone acomplish that feat of stuffing a VG into a 240. We've seen an RB in one, now it's time for the VG.

We're waiting unstable-hybrids :D

The VG30DETT is powerful, the 91 300Zx ran 13.9 stock with the car weighing at a estimate of 3400lbs. Running that fast with a stock 300HP engine is impressive.

If you gonna turbo the KA, I'd suggest finding a low mileage KA engine first (i've seen them go on ebay for $400) then get a turbo kit. I wouldn't stuff a turbo on a high mileage engine.
