Where is the ECM? 93' Lumina Sedanus5camp 03-21-2006, 08:01 PM I think my ECM may be going bad on my 93' Lumina Sedan. It's spitting out a bunch of codes and the check engine line comes on and off. Question is: Where is the ECM? maxwedge 03-21-2006, 08:06 PM Pass side inner fender, inside a black cover. us5camp 03-21-2006, 08:09 PM Pass side inner fender, inside a black cover. Where is it in relation to the fuse box/panel on that fender? maxwedge 03-21-2006, 08:29 PM Passenger side inner fender, under the hood. richtazz 03-22-2006, 10:40 AM There is a plastic cover on the inside of the passenger fender under the radiator overflow bottle. Remove the cover and you'll see the ECM. What codes is it throwing and why do you suspect the ECM? Normally a bad ECM will throw no codes, not a bunch of them. maxwedge 03-22-2006, 07:17 PM There is a plastic cover on the inside of the passenger fender under the radiator overflow bottle. Geez Rich, I thought you were going to show up and actually open the hood and point to the part, absolutely no self help in this world these days. us5camp 04-03-2006, 03:31 PM There is a plastic cover on the inside of the passenger fender under the radiator overflow bottle. Thanks Richtazz, I'll have to look a little closer in this area tonight. I suspect an ECM from the advice of a local garage. I had them check the codes after my check engine light came on. They said it was spitting out numerous codes and feeding them a really low rpm to boot. They said they've seen this before and it's likely the ECM starting to fail. The light has been coming on intermittently for weeks while the car continues to run normally. So... in the abscense of other items to check, I am thinking of installing a re-mfr'd ECM from NAPA. us5camp 04-03-2006, 03:35 PM Geez Rich, I thought you were going to show up and actually open the hood and point to the part, absolutely no self help in this world these days. Maxwedge, know who you criticise before throwing out such worthless drivel in your last post. Despite what you may think, I do know my way around cars and did look for it on this vehicle, just didn't spot it. Self help IS asking a "friendly" forum for a little time saving advice on where exactly to locate this part. Oh well, perhaps I should be doing this instead.... :banghead: Respectfully, Us 5 Camp maxwedge 04-03-2006, 03:44 PM Maxwedge, know who you criticise before throwing out such worthless drivel in your last post. :screwy: Despite what you may think, I do know my way around cars and did look for it on this vehicle, just didn't spot it.
