How do I change the starter on an 88 stanza.rtm862 03-21-2006, 06:03 PM Man this is a pain in the you know what. I told my cousin I would change it for him for $20 bucks. A week and a half later it's still sitting on jack stands. I got the axel out but I still cant get to it. Am I supposed to take off the engine mounts. If so which one? If you guys can email me with some advice i could really use it. I read somewhere that you have to physically push he engine in order to get it out. Please help. perrymoor@yahoo.com FixUrNissan 03-23-2006, 06:36 PM i havent had to chance one of those in a long time.. i do remember they are a mother of a job.. let me re look it up tomorrow and i ll get back to you on the steps you need to take to do it. rtm862 03-23-2006, 10:20 PM I've got most of it torn down. I'm going off the TSB labor guide instructions from Nissan. The instructions are good but the diagrams suck. I'm almost at the last step and I'm stuck at removing the tension rod mount. The car has three mounts and it doesnt say which one is the tension rod mount. If I can get that I think can get it. Is it the front, back, side, or somewhere else? FixUrNissan 03-25-2006, 05:41 PM Sorry Our shop no long has a stanza book for 88 .. I believe you have ot take the rear motor mount out and the right side axle .. I forget , havent done one of those in about 10 or more years.. rtm862 03-26-2006, 07:49 PM Thanks. I got everything out except for the rear mount. According to the TSB from nissan you don't have to remove the rear mount. But I don't see how. Anyway I guess that's the last step and I'm gonna do it tommorow. rtm862 03-26-2006, 08:46 PM Still going after 2 weeks ANND NOT FINISHED. HELP vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
