Im probly getting a 240 soon and I liked how the shifter was soooo short on my miata (wich is sold) Ebay has some for like $30-$50. I wont have money for a B&M shifter anytime soon, but im also too cheap to buy one. How about those cheap ones?

garbage. but they may last you until you can afford a b&m. and its only 30 bucks if you break it. the 240 shifter is kind of short anyways but even with a short shifter im not sure itll be as short as your miata. the throws will probably be as short but the height of the shifter itself will still probably be longer.

who carse how short the shifter is as long as the throw is short. dont waste your money on a $30 that is definantly goign to break. save for the B&M i love mine. if i really want a shifter to be shorter and dont care about the actual throw of it you can always chop the shifter and weld it back together w/ a section taken out of it i have friends who went that route but i see it as pointless

you get what you pay for. I wouldnt cheap out on anything. Whats a b&m go for?? I dont see how it would be to expensive. If you have any plans on modding your 240.......you better just clear the expensive part out of your head. lol.

oh damn thats not bad at all....i would consider that a very cheap mod for this car. How does it feel? Does it get rid of that factory slop (wiggle)? I dont like the way my shifter feels to much. Its just worn obviously. I assumed those were like in the 200-250 range. How long have you had it on for? Any problems??

no slop it all shifts great a lil hard to get in reverse sometimes but i think thats a tranny problem not a shifter problem. ive had it since sometime in summer and i love it. i have a friend w/ a s14 w/ sr awap and he sat in my car one day at the track and just went gear to gear w/ it parked and ordered one 2 days later and he loves it as well. no complaints her. much much beter feel. i should get paid for this plug

I've always told people who've
said "Man you're shifter's really high"
Reply "Dude, it's closer to the steering wheel for faster, easier shift times"

well, have you ever driven a miata? The shifter feel could be a selling point itself. When I got rear tires put on the miata the guy was all happy, he was like I love those cars, the shifter is like soooo short. The throw is short and so is the shifter hight. So to me the 240 shifter is bleh, but thats nothing compared to an early 90's celica. But anyways I ordered an ebay shifter, a steel one,not alluminum, I am setting up a B&M shifter fund for when my cheapo one breaks. It was $39, thats shipping and all.

I was actually thinking of investing in one myself. Only problem is I've never driven one and I don't know anyone with one to test it. What do you guys think of them? I mean versus a long.

its amazing you dont need to test it its not like buying a new car short throw is awesome spend money go B&M or some other reputable company. and you will love it dont spend the money and you will waste money and your time.

I just got a B&M Short Throw Shifter for my Civic last week from Monument Auto Parts. It was only like $70 and change. And you can get them online for like $50 + shipping so about the same amount. Definately worth it though. It pretty much cut my shift throws in 1/2. When I'm in 4th gear my shifter is dead center. It's awesome. That and the shifts are hella clean and precise as well. Very solid feel to it.

my JDM ca18det came with what has to be some kind of shortie, not only is it a really short throw but its the tightest shift i've ever seen, zero slop, zero wiggle, its actually a little stiffer than i would like.

well, ive had my ebay shifter for like atleast a week now, the shift is alot shorter, the height of the shifter is the same, there is still wiggle and slop but it is reduced, mine is a stainless steel one.the install was really easy and I took pics of the install.
