Painting wheel rims

I'm just wondering how to paint perfect circles for the inner rims of those 2-tone wheel rims. The rims are recessed so paper/tape circle masks are out.
When I use masking solution, the paint peels off when I remove it, so I get jagged edges around the rims.

maybe you can paint the whole rim the color of the inside and then paint the outer part. that would be easier to make maybe... hard to imagine since i dont know what the wheels look like but it maybe something you could try.

On the contrary, recessed rims may make the masking job easier. Tape the entire wheel up, then used the edge of the inner circle as a guideline for your #11 x-acto blade. Cut and remove the masking tape. The disc brakes for my bikes were painted using this method, using Parafilm M and a circle template, or following the recessed/raised edges of the circle. Good luck.
