what to do next?Eclipsewhipping 03-19-2006, 08:18 PM ok well i figured id ask your guys opinoins on what i should do next, all my current mods are in my sig. right now im running low 13s-high 12s... wut should be my next mods and in what order should i do them, i been thinking bout upgraded injectors and new intercoolers? is this a good next step and what type of power gains should i expect? also would i be able to run more boost? right now im running 14psi .. Broke_as_**** 03-19-2006, 10:01 PM A set of down pipes is probably the next logical step. Did you cut the old cats out and put in the new ones or did you replace the entire pipe? Is your exhaust one size all the way through or is pieced together? Anyway, with the intercoolers and larger injectors you could probably take it up to ~16 psi. Doesn't sound like much but you'll see a bigger gain then you might think because of the larger temperature drop. xXxRocker5150 03-19-2006, 10:15 PM ^he's got high flow cats, so I'm assuming it's the whole damn pipe. Eclipsewhipping 03-19-2006, 11:30 PM yea its the whole pipe k3smostwanted 03-19-2006, 11:40 PM next mods should be injectors, intercoolers, and/or downpipes. BTW: be careful with those stock turbos. you have an auto so you dont have quite the same turbos as the 5-speed. i know people take the 5 speed turbos up to 18 psi on rare occasion but i dont know about the automatic turbos, i would imagine both turbos are out of their efficiency range at that high of boost levels. good luck with that auto trans. anybody know what kind of power levels it can handle in stock form? Broke_as_**** 03-20-2006, 12:04 AM Now more than ever with the advancing years of the Z32 line, it's difficult to project expected capacities and life times of individual parts. Especially something like an automatic transmission. If it hasn't been taken care of, if it's been power braked and launch excessively or otherwise abused, it's quite amazing that it's still working. But figure a good working limit is around 500rwhp, a bench mark that is being reached more and more often these days, meaning more and more automatic Zs are being put to the test. Generally they seem to hold up pretty good. k3smostwanted 03-20-2006, 08:35 PM Now more than ever with the advancing years of the Z32 line, it's difficult to project expected capacities and life times of individual parts. Broke_as_**** 03-20-2006, 10:39 PM Well you also have to remember alot of the those guys have doubled their original horsepower. A 5000 rpm, 500hp clutch drop with drag slicks is a pretty tall order to fill. Mostly it seems to be the syncros that give out when powershifting. Going from a quick shift with the throttle close where the engine is making maybe 100hp to a violent wrenching with 600hp one side and a pair of drag slicks on the other is quite an extreme, one that wasn't really planned for way back in the late 80s. But it keeps everyone busy and autos got a leg up on drag racing anyway. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
