Attn:Toysrme (water pump is dead)Soilent Green 03-18-2006, 08:50 PM I never had time to have the pump checked for that annoying sound, my car died on a corner an hour ago and all the coolant leaked down on the street... I'll have a mechanic check it out on Monday...It made a screeching sound so I promply turned back around and drove slowly for about 100 meters then it died. I just hope the engine is not damaged Toysrme 03-19-2006, 03:24 AM Shit. I hate being right sometimes LoL! I wish it was an idler pulley :( The massive screeching was probably metal/metal contact in the waterpump. You didn't really go very far, so I doubt you overheated it & did any real engine damage. I'd flush that cooling system like crazy tho. Make sure the block is OK & that the radiator isn't clogged. Probably as good a time as any for a new thermostat & radiator pressure cap. Toysrme 03-19-2006, 03:26 AM Water pump isn't too big a deal, so don't feel bad. It's a failure item. Eventually... Every water pump is going to fail. $75 will normally buy you an aftermarket / rebuilt one. If you're comfortable changing a timing belt, you can wiggle in there & change the pump. Wiggle is the key word, but it's not flat out insanely difficult. (Just "pain in the ass" kind of difficult lol!) Soilent Green 03-20-2006, 08:31 AM I'm not going down there, plus I'll probably need a new timing belt since it seized and I don't trust leaving it there... Only thing is that I can't tow it down to my Toyota specialist, it's way too far and will cost me an arm and leg. I'll have to have it changed by a local Autopro garage...but anyways when it got to be done.... Soilent Green 03-20-2006, 10:16 PM And now this dude says my compression is wrong and cylinder 1 is leaking into 4 and 2 into 3 and wants me to buy another head because the timing belt slipping would've yanked my lifters. What the f... it's gonna cost me my bare ass to move the car to my toyspec now. Toysrme 03-21-2006, 01:07 AM Eh... If your timing belt let the cams slip, your compression is gonna be pbbbbbl. AFA the lifters & stuff... Haha, no. If it overheated you coulda nuked a head gasket & the associated exhaust blowing by it would have superheated it & warped it. Soilent Green 03-21-2006, 12:12 PM Compression was 180-180-180-175 this morning after I brought my Haynes in an told the guy how to fucking time my own engine so he's remounting everything right now I need to call him back in a few. Soilent Green 03-22-2006, 06:57 PM Car is running barely okay, lots of shaking around when I stop at red lights, deep shaking, not just something buzzing against an egine part. Then there's smoke coming from underneath the left radiator fan where I believe a coolant hose is attached, the smell is like burn sugar so it's coolant. Can't wait to have it re-checked by my own Toyspec tomorrow. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
