Helprattles69 03-18-2006, 08:42 PM I have a 97 Cavalier 2.2 5 speed. I am wanting to install a gauge cluster from a Z24 cavalier 5 speed with tach. I have tried installing and the car starts and runs for like 5 seconds then dies. What would cause this and how can I fix it? Do they have a gauges cluster for the 2.2 5 speed with a tach? blitzcivic 03-23-2006, 02:05 PM the rs has the tach 2.2L as far as using the z24 the engine wiring is differnt so you could be shorting out the coil the tach runs off the negative on the coil jakegday 03-23-2006, 07:36 PM no the RS model does not come with a tach (i can say from experience) if you want a tach in a 97 cavalier that did not come with one stock, you will need whats called a "tach adaptor" since there is no single wire you can tap into for your "signal". The adaptor i have has 3 wires, 2 of the i had to splice into 2 other wires right on the coil pack, and the 3rd wire is the "signal" for the tach sorry i cant help with your guage cluster problem/not starting problem, but i can help with installing a tach in a cavalier rattles69 03-23-2006, 07:51 PM Thanks for the info vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
