10s .... should not be an issue.

However, we are going after a much more interesting goal within the next few weeks :D

Shit man, you've went major big time on us!

Looks great though. Good luck this season. Maybe we can take turns about winning this summer like we did last summer, lol.

Lol. I probably want if it involves any kind of turn other then a right one at about 10 mph at the end of a drag strip, LOL.

Good news ... bad news:

The good news is that we strapped Hyde onto the dyno Tuesday morning and using the extremely conservative map from the previous 200,000 miles engine nad not adjusting the cams at all, we put down a blistering 493 rwhp! This new engine is really breathing.

With adding back all of the timing we have taken out of the map and adjusting the cams more agressively, we surely would have been well in to the 500s at the wheel. From there it is a matter of turning up the boost. I suspect 550+ rwhp with this engine will be attainable.

The bad news is after 5 dyno pulls, we had audible rod knock offering evidence of a fatal spun bearing. My tuner and I spent Wednesday pulling the motor back out and he took it to his home 6 hours away and will be starting to tear into on Friday. If all goes well, we should be back up and running in 2-3 weeks time.

We are going to take this time to fix a few other small bugs:

1. Fix my inefficent wastegate set up (done already!)
2. Get a true GT35R compressor housing. We were running a T3T4 housing on the comp side to make sure it cleared my setup, but we now know that a true GT35R housing will fit.
3. A new alternator is going in.

Here's the dyno graph. The run was done on the wasteaget spring pressure only.
That is 11 psi, but we crept to 25 psi by 7500 rpms. At 4400 rpms you will see torque start to level off. That is the WG fighting the creep. If we would have done the run at 25 psi, the quick rise from 4000K-4500K would have continued like my previous dynos ;)

We picked up nearly 300 rpms of spool and we have not even tinkered with the cams yet!

Below is my fixed up wastegate. My previous set up (first photo) had a T3T4 turbo and the WG vented right back into the exhaust. This was fine on my old set up, but with my bigger turbo and freer flowing engine, the WG system was over run. As of today, my WG is dumped straight down to the ground (second photo). This will make the in-car videos a little more interesting as open exhaust screams out at full boost :D the inset photo has a red arrow pointing to where the WG dump used to reconnect to the main exhaust.

The thing that truly, truly sucks about all of this is that Hyde was scheduled to be in Maxton, North Carolina next Friday for the running of the ECTA's 1-mile land speed run. Hot Rod magazine is covering the event. In particular they are looking for the fastest street car. We were really expectating that to be Hyde with a potential top speed over 180 mph.

We really wanted that to be big surprise and post in on April 1st ... figured everyone would think it was an April fools joke until they saw the slips & video.

Well, since we mixed that big event, we decided to find another challenge for Hyde beyond his regular schedule of hillclimbs and NHRA sport compact drag racing, so ....

We are planning on doing the Redline Time Attack (http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/index-ap.html) event at BeaveRun (http://www.beaverun.com) inear Pittsburgh, PA on Sat-Sun May 13-14.

Wish us luck!

p.s. We may try for the Land Speed record later in the year as they run that event 6 times per year ... we'll see.

Sorry to hear about the bearing Jeff, BUT! nice dyno man... Hyde's really showing his monstrous side these days...

Good work.. looking forward to new videos and records.

Well that sucks man. Hope it didnt hurt your crank.

My new engine (383 SBC) is more likely to cut a bearing out of it then to spin one I think, lol. We set the time on this evening (38-degrees) and holding it at about 2000 rpms, it had 100 pounds of oil pressure! That's really too much, lol. It was still cold however (temp only came up to liek 135 degrees or something).

lol... 100 pounds? shit... that's like extra high.

Tell me about it, lolol. It should settle down. I hope anyways!

First night we cranked it, it idled on about 70 or 75, and that was at 161 or 162 degrees. When its cold, it idles on about 80, but revs up to 100, lol.

I've got a new electric waterpump and its just awesome. It pumps 35 GPM. I bet it came close to running for 10 minutes last night and it only got to like 135 degrees, lol. The other night, it idled well over 10 minutes, and most of that was at 2500 rpms or so, and it only got to about 160.
