I have a 2000 4WD SE that is having a very weird noise when I accellerate from a complete stop.

Sounds like heat sheild or something vibrating.....weird thing is right after I bought this thing last year it did the same thing and the dealership replaced the exhaust Y pipe that went between the headers and the converter. Supposedly the noise stopped, but it became winter and I can really only hear it with the windows down. Just started opening the sunroof again and now I hear it.

Ideas?

There are lots of heat shields, entirely possible that another is loose.
I've heard a couple of people have had the honeycomb in the cats come loose and start rattling around.
And the old cracked exhaust manifold sound could possibly be mistaken for a rattle...

I was having the same type of problem and that is how I solved mine.

Found the noise. Was taking a trip this weekend and figured this noise was going to drive me compleely crazy the entire weekend so i should check it out.

Started bangin with my hand on the Y pipe and could hear a rattle. Traced it further forward and it turned out to be where the exhaust drops down and curves under the engine on the passenger side. There is a heat sheild and the bottom clam was rusted almost off causing it and the sheild to vibrate. Can't figure out how the shop didn't notice this when the had the exhaust off of it last fall, but a hose clamp later and we are all quiet!
