Everyone knows Evergreen Speedway has long been known for competitive NASCAR circle track racing and exciting thrill shows. This summer Evergreen Speedway is shaking things up a little on Friday nights with a new Street Racer Championship Series.
The traditional 1/8 mile drag racing group that competed at Evergreen Speedway for the last few years is going to anchor the Friday night show. During dry race nights the drag racing will go on under the same format as previous years. A few times during the night the Drag racers will get a break and we will run autocross and drifting. When mother nature does not cooperating and we have a wet track the Speedway will run autocross and drifting.
Everyone understands the concept on 1/8 mile drags so let’s explain autocross and drifting. Autocross is a simple one car at a time races through a defined road course for fastest time. DRIFTING: Well Drifting is a whole new beast. The goal is to “Drift” or throw your car into spectacular power slides around a series of corners. This is a judged event much like figure skating. The four basic factors will be looking for and judging will be 1) Entry speed 2) Drift angle 3) Transition / line 4) Excitement / style / crowd appeal.
This new street racer championship series should prove to be both exciting and a lot of fun. Our plan is to split the series into five basic classes. Four cylinder front wheel drive, four and six cylinder rear wheel drive, all wheel drive, eight and ten cylinder rear wheel drive and full race. This is a series designed with the street racer in mind, so when you ask turbo, nitrous, super charging; we will just say: YES.

Every night at the completion of the event our scoring judges will award driver points in relationship to there overall finishing position for the night. By the end of the season we will crown the Washington State Street Racer Champion for each division.
