I Have an 89 Electra and my SES light came on yesterday after I pounded on the gas for a few seconds. I checked the error codes and I get 22 and 41. 22 seems to be a TPS problem and 41 the camshaft sensor.

I took the camshaft sensor out and had it tested. it works fine. I really hope the interruptor magnet didn't fall off because I dont have the money to get it fixed. What could happen to my car if I ignore the camshaft sensor problem? and What about the TPS error?+

How many miles does your timing set have? If over 100k, it just may be time for a little work! Whenever a cam sensor issue comes up, it's almost always recommended to change the timing set, which includes the little magnet. When my camshaft sensor went out, I got stumbling, misfiring, poor gas mileage and stalling! The sensor was fine like yours, but the magnet was indeed worn out. A worn timing set will throw the code 41. I drove about 5-6 months with the code set before paying over $550 for a new timing set and sensor. The TPS is easy to get to. Have you tried getting it tested as well? It may just be best to replace it.

is that $550 installed? I really don't feel like doing this myself. I did it once before on a 3.1L 89 Z24 and it was a nightmare. It worked, but it took forever and I never want to do it again. $550 seems extremely steep for parts only, so I will assume it was a total from a mechanic or dealership. You're right though, I might as well replace any other worn parts that a mechanic can get to while the side of the engine is apart

Yes, $550 total cost for parts (timing set, sensor and an oil change) installed.
