I just bought a 1996 Ram 3500 with a 5.9 12valve cummins I couldn't pass the offer I got it for but I really don't like the idea of haveing the Dual rear wheels since I don't do any major hauling. So I want to remove the huge rear fender and i'm sure I will have to repaint the bed but thats no big deal but I need a diff set of rims and i don't know what to look for so I was wondering if anyone has ever done something like this or does anyone know if rims from a 2500 with the same engine would fit on my rear end

No you can't use 2500 rims.

ok if i can't use the rims but will a rear end out of a 2500 with the same engine fit under there or could i possibly just replace the outer hub part of my rear end

If you put a 2500 rear end in it then you will need to carry 2 spares, one for back and one for front. As for changing hubs, I don't know for sure, but dodge didn't make a single wheel 1 ton in those years. If you do change the rear end out, is it 4x4?, if so you would need to make sure to get the same gear ratio as front. I still think you best choice is a new set of rims, or if you got a good enough deal on it, sell it for a profit and find a 3/4 ton. There is no shortage of people who want 1 ton dually dodges.

Yes it is a 4x4 and i would rather just put 4 new rims and tires on it but i don't know where to find single rims that will replace the factory duals
