For the most part the Blazer and S10 forums are an incredible wealth of information, and everyone is really nice and polite to others.

But like all good things there are a few simple changes that the regulars, including myself can make to improve the boards.

3 things that I'd like done are

1. If you notice that someone is new here please take the time to welcome them to AF.
2. When they post in the wrong board try giving them the link to the correct one. This also includes the sales board for the people advertising on this board.
If you can't find the right board don't worry about it, someone else might be able to.
3. related to #2. If you can help anyone that has posted on the wrong board with their problem please give them the proper link, but still try your best to help them out.

I'm sure that everyone here has their own tips and sugestions as well. Please post them here.

Thanks
Stu, AKA OverBoardProject

I like the board the way it is but there is always room for improvement. I cant think of anything off hand but I will post again when I do

I agree the board is great, but there is always room for improvement. One thing I would like to see more of is follow ups to the threads as to what the problems turned out to be and the fix.

I agree with you Jeremy. That would be an improvement, and I've seen you mention it before.

Yes , I would like to see some type of closure when a problem is fixed . I realize that times people don't have time to work on things immediately , so it would bring older post back to the top . Causing more clutter of course .
I also try to welcome new visitors in . Just like at home ,makes us all feel comfortable. Rob

Maybe there can be something to remind us that we have an unfinished thread. It's easy to forget about it. Open to suggestions for this. Maybe something next to our username flashing or something. Something that appears only when you start a new thread.

This board is hands down one of the best and everybody really does help.......

People here are for the most part patient and they help alot........ compare this board to some of the others

Closure would be nice but not practical in all cases

I'll sticky this for a while so everyone can see it.

I agree, it would be great if everyone would come back and post their results, but it's just one those things that we have to deal with. We can't go hold a gun on them and make them reply. If we could... I would. :iceslolan

I'd like to see us do what Brian was talking about and create a list of things and products to avoid.

I would like to see a Blazer chronology; a year by year history of the advances (or retreats) of the hardware, options, problems, etc.

I know that it would be helpful to those of us that are new to the community and I suspect it would also be helpful to the old-timers.

Blazee i second or third or whatever im in that line of products that need to be avoided.

also WOOT WOOT STU IS IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT.

i followed some of this thread earlier and it had to be one of my most professional post ever.No lols or anything.

A history wouldnt be too bad of an idea but with that i wouldnt mind maybe seeing a thread started and get the boards feedback. A kinda thing like this:

Title: Year, Make, Engine, and Problems with your Blazer,Jimmy,Bravada Etc
List your year engine etc and what you have replaced and maybe some of the guys that are the techs could list whats known to fail like the 97s and ignition switches etc. I know after awhile that when the histories etc whatever its going to be called would take time to compile the stats but that be something nice to see. Have the thread open for maybe a month or two then lock it and go to town.

This is a great board.
Although I must admit that I am not mechanically inclined, I am confident enough to do minor repairs and oil changes & such, and I have picked up some good information by reading this board.

Keep up the good work...

There's a map of members (that have regestired) somewhere on AF.

I like the idea of members helping out other local members when they need a hand with something.

That way someone like you that isn't very mechanically inclined has a fighting chance to fix a more complex problem.

And if everyone does their share it's a win win situation. We all need a hand doing some job or another from time to time.

if you're gonna be in the Rockies, follow them down to Denver. I'd sure enjoy some company for a week or so.

If it's the Canadian Rockies just give me 1 days notice.

I've gotta apply for my passport sometime soon.

I sure wish that we didn't need it to cross that imaginary line

I wish people would title their threads better. It makes fun much better searching. Although nothing beats a " Holy Crap!!" or "WTF" title.

OverBoardProject
03-18-2006, 11:06 PM
Very good point Muzzy, that would really help with a search.
Do you have any sugestions how we could name them better?

I don't know if it's possible for the administrators to allow the thread starter to edit the title. After they narrowed the problem down. (I've tried, and can't)
I know that the mods can, but part of the reason why I started this thread is to make their job easier on them.

I think simplicity is the best. The part or the part you think it is and a sound or whatever. I know it's not always possible to be specific but the closer you get the better.

That's where I think that it would be nice if the thread starter could change the name after they're narrowed it down a little

Gotcha OBP. Number one way to improve the board will to be answering my cutlass threads cuz that board is dead lol.

Remove old posts with zero replies!

OverBoardProject
03-21-2006, 12:37 AM
Good idea tuellz, that can be done by the thread starter or the moderators. But better yet try to answer everyones question.

I know that we don't always help, but it's usually because we just don't know, and ocasionally we get tired of answering the same question over and over again.

You'll see what I mean in the early winter when everyone wonders why their 4wd isn't working. That's the worst one
