Help - 4wd convert to 2wdBadTrak 03-15-2006, 10:38 AM My 94 has wore out the front differential, half shafts, front prop shaft and transfercase is leaking and making noise. I want to convert this to rear drive only and dump all this other stuff off at the scrap yard. I believe the transmission will have to changed out due to the transfercase mounting and I will have to get ahold of a two piece driveshaft. What else would I need to make this conversion or is this even possible? Its a 4 door. Thanks! rlith 03-18-2006, 09:39 AM My 94 has wore out the front differential, half shafts, front prop shaft and transfercase is leaking and making noise. You won't have a true 2wd only because the front of the frames are completely different from an actual 2wd. rental blazer 03-19-2006, 05:47 AM i have a gm manual for the 95's and as you know chassis is the same for all years so no its not possable cuz they used diffent frames BadTrak 03-20-2006, 09:25 AM Thanks for your input. I have too much in this one to sell and get a 2WD (new engine). The front of the frame is definitely different due to all the mountings for differential and probably torsion bars vs. springs also. I was hoping that I could get the 2 cross members from a 2WD to mount the rear of the transmission and to mount the trunion bearing for the 2 piece driveshaft. I would probably have to drill the holes in the frame to mount them but that and the right location could be figured out. It will never be a true 2WD or a true 4WD ever again. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
