I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo, 4cyl 5spd Manual.

Recently I took it to a shop and they ran an full electronic diagnosis on it and it showed that my Cam Position Sensor was showing low signal in bank 2 (I believe). They told me that it was bad and needed replaced...

They then told me it would cost me about $300 to fix it...I can buy the part from NAPA for $147 and I have a decent amount of knowlege for fixing cars..
All I need to know is where this sensor is located...Do I have to take the engine apart to reach or is this something a novice mechanic can tackle or should I just pay the shop to do the repair...

I have access to any and all tools to dismantle a battleship and plenty of time. So if someone could just gimme a clue as to where the sensor is located I will do the fix myself.

On my '97 3.2L it is located on the front of the engine near the top. Look for the timing belt cover that has a small electrical connector plugged into it. On mine, there is one 10mm (I think) bolt holding the sensor in. It has a rubber gasket built in to keep dust out. Expect to gently wiggle the sensor out. The rubber was stuck, so it needed some coaxing. The camshaft pulley just has a simple magnet glued on it, and that is all that $147 sensor does, is detect the magnet orbiting by. Try cleaning the sensor after you remove it (use electrical component cleaner if you want, but I used a wet-nap tissue) and maybe it will work after you clear the codes. It's worth a shot.
