96' Cav 2.2L. Manual Trans

I've had this car for about a month. Great shape, low mileage.

Recently, when I put the car in 1st and try to accelerate slowly, there is a point when about halfway in the release of the clutch where it catches or is supposed to catch, it stutters like crazy. It's not like when your first trying to learn how to drive a manual transmission vehicle and the car jerks around. Something is not catching as I try to accelerate. If I drive it a little more aggressively, it's fine as I pop the clutch a little quicker. It's just happening when I'm easing into it. It happens in no other gear.

Also, recently I had my oil changed and was told that I had the wrong transmission fluid. Someone put automatic transmission fluid in my manual transmission. I'm getting this changed tomorrow but I was wondering if this could be contributing to the problem and what is the difference really? Does it even matter?
