I am removing the fuel tank on my 2000 blazer for the first time to replace my fuel pump. I have removed the outer shell and the four bolts that hold the bottom brace where do I go from there. Thanks for any help

2 Straps are holding the tank up, with a floor jack under the tank loosen them and then drop the tank enough to remove the fuel pump connectors and all the hoses. Be carefule to not break the small plastic connector at the front outer side of the tank, it has a small peice of tubing that needs to be unhooked.

Thats about it.Its not a bad job just take your time replacement lines that tie into the sending unit arn't cheap. If your looking at it from the back you can let the right side down more using a jack giving you little but enough room to get up in and disconect the lines.

Also make sure you ONLY use an AC Delco pump.
Don't go for aftermarket or you could be replacing it often.

See my thread on Bad gas tank gaskets. Don't take a chance with what they sell you in the kit. Go to a dealership and buy the gasket from them. If you end up not needing it, they'll take it back if you don't open the package.

Make sure to blow the dirt off with a spray nozzle before pulling the fuel pump out of the tank. You need a special set of fuel line removal tools to get the gas lines off the fuel pump. They are white in color, plastic and you can get it at any autoparts stores.

There is one really good aftermarket fuel pump out there,Carter.I have put in Carter fuel pumps with no comebacks.Stay away from Airtex, the worst and piece of junk fuel pumps out there.Airtex makes fuel pumps for Napa and Carquest.Carquest will be dropping Airtex from making their fuel pumps and going with another company to make their fuel pumps.
