That depends on what you are wanting to do. Top end or quick to fast. 3;55 is a good choice for quick to fast. However you will be limited on top end. 3:23 is good all around. Tops out about 130 and has good fuel mileage. Not as quick though.

Well like way2old said it depends on what kind of drving you want top end or off the line fun. But 3.55 is good all around gear for highway and street driving pretty much what a lot of police CV's have in them. 3.73 some highway but a little more for street. Or 4.10 more of a street gear and very little highway. and you will see you rpm's increase around 300-600 rpm's with the 3.73 and 4.10 but that also depends on the car too might be a little more or a little less.

For what you want your best bet is the 3.55.

I am not 100% sure but I think you will be ok with the digital speedo. But to be on the safe side call your local installer that does rear ends or even call a trans place and ask them they will be able to tell you. All I do know is that when I did my gears on my 90 CV I had to replace the stock speedo gear on my AOD trans.

You will need to change the gear on the speed sensor to make the speedo be at the correct mph.

I have owned CVs with 2.73s (best mileage), 3.08s and 3.55s (WORST mileage).

I had 3.55s and 3.08s in the same car (1999 CVPI) and it was taken to the track a few times. There is NO difference AT ALL between 3.08 gears and 3.55s in 1/4 miles times. At the 1/8 mile you can see a slight difference, with the 3.55s being quicker. It is not worth the -2 MPG of the 3.55s for that slightly quicker acceleration IMO.

I would say that 3.27 gears offer the best balance between economy and acceleration (Ford apparently agrees as those are "standard" gears for the Sport and CVPI, with 3.55s being optional for the CVPI (city police)).

The difference between 3.08 and 3.27 is very minimal, and not worth the expense of changing.

so basicly what you are saying is forget the gears what would be a got mod slash thing to do to it that would be worth it
