just trying to compile a good list of options for mods, they could be for anything.

the topics are: steering and suspension, brakes, intake, exhaust, engine, electronics, transmission (both atx and mtx), body, lighting.

im mainly looking for ideas for the different things, like for intake you could have FI (turbo), cold air, short ram, ported throttle body (< i want to find one), etc. and or any brands that you like. or brands to stay away from.

GENERAL:
SCT or NGP0 PCM
AFX UDP (smallest thats widely availabe)
Cam gears (Esslinger seem to have the best quality)
Intake that puts the filter in the fender (hotShot or CTA)
JohnP PnP head
cams that fit your needs (over .400 the motor is interferance)
some form of a LSD
good plug wires(Ford racing are great from my experiance)
Short through shifter(TWM, or B&M are best)
Ported TB, or a Focus central TB with custom bracket
Ported stock intake maifold

STEERING:
moving to a manual rack (lot of work, less weight)

SUSPENTION:(great for autoX)
ES bushings
Eibach springs(1.0-1.2in drop)
tokicio struts
21mm swaybar from a Escort wagon
light weight 16 or 17in rim

BREAKS:
cross drilled/slotted rotors (brand doent matter much)
good pads
stainless steel lines

MANUAL SPECIFIC:
kamikazi header (4-1, great top end)
2.5in exhaust
Spec stage 2 or Centerforce clutch
Fedenza flywheel

AUTO SPECIFIC:
Level10 build
2.25in exhaust
ZXtuner 4-2-1 header (better mid range as auto's dont rev as high)

EXTERIOR:
....nothing..as that just promotes rice..how ever tint and a lip kit IS acceptible

INTERIOR:
If its not needed lose it..its just weight.

BAD BRANDS:
Pacesetter
Gude
Megan Racing
Daiken/Exidy Clutches (that might be spelled wrong, Daiken IS Exidy, they make the stock clutch(POS))

TURBO:
Rude Awakening Motorsports (http://www.geocities.com/rudeawakeningmotorsports/new.html) - they only do turbo ZX2's, and great prices

Any questions? haha

ok i gotta dumb question... what is a lip kit? and do u know how hard is it to put a turbo on a AUTO trans 1998 zx2...or if u even can? and if u can does it bolt on eazy or is it like one of thous focus ones that i keep hearing about.. that dont really fit.

he test fits every kit before he sends it out

Why wouldnt you be able to turbo an auto? ive never heared of a car you cant turbo because it was an auto

The stock auto tranny will die after about 120whp...thats about 20more then stock power

Lip kit = Wings west kit

mine? i know mine is shot, but im taking it in for work. altec.... quick question on a car deal:
white 03 zx2,
stick, 31 grand miles
aftermarket cd player,
no fogs.... this car is the base of the base model
worth 7995? i know i bought mine for 7500, and i got EVERYTHING, plus its manderin orange.... but its an auto... but a plus is the guy that owns the lot is my boss's son in law... sooo i might be able to get a better deal.

just a thought cuz i know the mazda tranny is better then the auto, and might take better to mods.

thats what i was thinking... ill probibly let this pass anyway. ill wait another year or so and pick one up for like 3500 or so.

but to add tho the mod list:
ignition (msd, wires, plugs, coil)
fuel sending stuff (pump, fuel rail, injectors)
mufflers (universal, racing, hi flow cats)
lighting (headlight lamps, "angel halo")

oh and what about coilover shocks/ struts? that way i dont got to change the springs out every winter ( i live in wisconsin). and do wires really make that much of a difference?

no its not...in 03 i got my s/r w/ 30k on it for 8k...that teh going price from a dealer fro a 3yrs old Z w/ low milage.

the white 03 is worth about 7k even

i'l keep teh 03 manderine and do a 5sd swap

ignition (msd, wires, plugs, coil)

Poinltess except for idle

fuel sending stuff (pump, fuel rail, injectors)

the pump and reail dont need to be changed unless you are looking to make 300+hp

mufflers (universal, racing, hi flow cats)

If you buy a universal muffler, you should sell your can and buy a honda, i only back Borla

lighting (headlight lamps, "angel halo")

all after market lights fro teh Zx2 eak water, they dont make zx2 halo's

oh and what about coilover shocks/ struts? that way i dont got to change the springs out every winter ( i live in wisconsin).

I live in PA, we get snow too

and do wires really make that much of a difference?
not if you dont mind vibrating your balls off at a redlight

2 questions: how hard/how much/supplies(tranny, replacement cpu, ect.)? and how will the fit and finish look when im done? i have the foux leather interior, and i have doen a few things to smooth out the insides look, and ild rather not screw it up with poor final fit and finish parts.

long as you remove the interior and know how to put it back it should still look new..its only gonna look shit if you do shit work.

tranny from yard 300
clutch 200-300
flywheel 100-300
then u need clutch cables, a clutch pettle, and you dont need a new cpu

im not sure about all the intrecacies, maybe manual axles also

it wont throw tranny codes? thats actually surprising. i dunno though ill probibly just wait to buy a stick in a couple years. that way i can optomize my car, and then use the stick as a builder. im good with cars but something like that kinda puts me back on my heels,... if it were an old muscle car, i can see doing it ... but something as intricate as this ild have to do it once prior before ild give it a go myself.
