Help! I need a factory cruise control cable GM part # 15981638. The General has discontinued this item and I cannot find any aftermarket source or salvage yards in my area that has one available.

I will buy a good used one but the only one that will fit must be off a 1996 or 1997 S10 with a 2.2 4 cyl.

Thanks in advance!

Most autowrecks are linked together through their own private network, so ask them to put it on the air.

I believe that it's called Teledeck where I live.

There are really 3 networks here, and not all autowrecks are linked to all 3 so you might have to ask the same thing at the next wrecker.

Thanks for the reaponses.

Car-part does not get down to a search level for a cruise cable but will be a great source in the future.

I will have my local salvage yard put it out on the wire but, every yard I have contacted so far has told me that they cut all the cables when they pull the motor.

Is your cable actually broken? These are adjustable to some extent.

jlcronk I'm going to a wrecker in the next day or 2. If you want tell me the details including how much you want to pay at the most, and I'll see if it's possible.

I get parts from the wrecker at a reduced price, and might be able to get you the same price.

Just a warning though, I live in Canada so unless they ae willing to declare it as a gift you'll have to pay duty over and above the shipping. Take this into consideration with your top figure.

If you can figure out how to send a PM send it to me that way (click on my name and the option will show up), and try including a daytime phone number if possible, or at least an e-mail.

I found a complete unit with cable in Maury City, TN for $45.00 with shipping. I have never been so happy:iceslolan

Thanks again for all of the help!
