Hi,

I've had my '02 SE (56k miles on it now) since the end of August '05, and I've come across an odd noise. As the wheel is swinging back to center after I've turned it a decent amount (to get out of a parking spot mostly), I'm hearing a strange "rapid tire deflation" noise! The first time I heard this noise, I actually got out of the car to see if I had a flat. It is evident that it is coming from the steering, and only happens on the first turn with a little acceleration. I've also noticed that the headlights dim suddenly when this noise happens, and return to normal as soon as its done (1 second or so).

On a side note, I've also heard one "clunk" every now and then when I back up and turn the wheel. I'm pretty sure the first noise happens when the car is cold only, but I've heard the second one at random times. Can anyone help?? Any diagnosis? Thanks a lot!

Ok, scratch the "it is evident that it is coming from the steering" part, as I have found that it will happen when pulling away from somewhere for the first time after you start the car with or without the wheel turning. Soooo, my issue is now more than just a noise from the steering...its just a general noise that always happens. Anyone every hear this "tire deflating" noise?

Thanks.
