here are some pics of a Monogram Chevy Bel Air that a friend of mine found at a garage sale for $2.00!! i dont thing it could get much better than that. the engine was started but thats all that was done. most of the parts were still on the sprues. let me know what you think of the finished product.

"Scale" is the size ratio of a miniature model to it's full size equivalent. Hopefully, the model has proprotions equivalent to those on the real thing, just smaller. The scale is what tells you how much smaller they are. "1/24" means that for every 1 unit on the full size object, the scaled down version would be 1/24th (or 0.0416667 times) of the same unit in the same dimension. Basically, you can take any measurement and divide it by the scale's denominator and get the measurement for the same part of the model.

you could imagine that it would take 24 models placed end to end to match the length of the actual car if the models are 1/24 scale. likewise, it would take 12 models to match the actual car if the models are at 1/12 scale.

i was just saying 1/2 to prove the point... but they do make 1/4 models... go to exoticar.com (http://www.exoticar.com) go to search and pick 1/4 scale and you'll find a 1/4 model of a ferrari modena for the price of $8,750!!:eek: my last real car was less than that. i'll have to stick to 1/24 and the occasional 1/12 until i win the lotto.:rolleyes: i wouldnt be surprised if there was a 1/2 model out there.
