engine light on after oil change???nmikmik 03-04-2006, 12:11 AM 2001 X5 with 3.0. 85k, I am recently experiencing an intermittent “Service Engine Soon” light coming on. Engine had some gunk in (serviced since brand new @ the BMW dealer!) it when I opened oil filler cap, so I flushed the engine with clean oil (no additives) and converted to the Amsoil about 4k ago. Since about 2k ago engine light started to show up, primarily when I am about to “run out of gas” may be little less then ¼ of the tank. Could my oil change “improvement” had something/anything to do with it? Thanks for all your help! If you take it to your dealer there likely charge you an hour labor to delete the fault code. nmikmik 03-05-2006, 05:40 PM Thanks a lot for your suggestion. What about getting my own ODB II scanner? Does anyone have a recommedation? I'd reather by one that can handle my Toyota, Volvo and BMW. I know you can go to the Atozone and rent one, but from previous experience it's not worth the hassle. thanks, BAVARIANM 03-06-2006, 02:10 PM You could of possibly turned your car on before your gas cap was put back on. I bought a code reader but the plug would not fit :banghead: So which one does and what the best buy for the money? Thanks! BAVARIANM 03-07-2006, 12:45 PM Then what could it be?
