MPG for 5.9V8 and Hard start problem after sitting more then one week.diyman25 03-03-2006, 01:10 AM hello every one. I have 97 Dodge ram stander cab and bed. with 5.9 V8 and AT with about 100K. I just wonder what is the mile per gallon. you guys got with tow or no tow. for me this about the same. I range from low 10 mile per gallon to 13 mile per gallon?? wonder this is normal or not ANd one thing really bother me. since my RAM is not my daily driver. and I only drive mabe once ever two week.. but recenly it develop very hard start problem. if I let it sit more then a week. some time it will take up to a 30 min to start it. I easily drain one battery... I have to pump the gas while crank.. and once I start it, It will require WOT to keep alive... but however once start it will be fine.. along as you start like twice of week.. but this really bother me a lot From my diagnosic. I think the Crank Pos sensor is bad.... is this possible? will this go bad easier in RAM ? dadof4s 03-03-2006, 07:18 PM I have a 99 1500 quadcab 5.9 with 71,000miles. I get about 10 mpg in town and 15 mpg on highway. tony36 03-03-2006, 11:08 PM a bad o2 sensoor can cause that, and cause worse mileage BleedDodge 03-06-2006, 12:22 AM If the codes say that it's his crank sensor, that's likely what it is... I'd also check out the idle air control valve, and throttle sensor since you have to hold it to the floor to get it to run like that. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
