Sheesh, i haven't got the time to stick them in subfolders, its bad enough categorising the ones i have!!!

Nah fair play to you, i have only been going for just over a year, and i only have a fraction of your images

What about the rest of you, let's see yours

Erik, is this true? Are you sand-bagging? Are you holding out on us?

Three of the ones on the front of the Temp folder are shots that bucciali shared with us of the ZAZ Museum from his Japanese contact. They are most likely included in the Japanese Fleet thread if you don't have them. The fourth black & white photo is a shot of GTR #07R that may not have been shared here.

Without those 600+ subfolders I'd never be able to stay on top of things like I do.

This is the sum total of my collection since my membership on this forum started.

Because I'm an obsessive right-click-save-as-er, and I've literally read every single thread since I joined, it makes me wonder where I can get the other 16,000 photos to catch up to Peloton.

Well for starters those aren't all photos, but to answer your question you'll find them at McLarenFreak.com once the site is completed.

Hopefully others will be willing to clean out their own "garages" of any missing content when the time comes too.

I was wondering about all your sub-folders;

Is there one for each road car chassis #, one for each XP, one for each LM, one for each XPGT, one for each GTR along with subfolders in there for each livery of each GTR and one for each race each GTR participated in?

this is the only way i could to anywhere near your subfolder quantity, then i would have to fill them!!! :)

If yes then i am WELL impressed

Interested to know if these folders contain videos....

McLaren At Le Mans?
Le Mans 95/96/97/98?
Top Gear etc....

Lets see - I don't have one for each and every chassis - just the ones we have photos of. In some cases there are multiple folders for each chassis number where it has had multiple owners. Take LM3 for instance - I have 3 main folders with pics from the time period of each owner, plus some sub-folders to divide up all the pics from when Mr S had the car since there were so many.

On the GTRs I have a folder for each livery, not each chassis number. Strangely, I don't have these organized as well as I could because in cases where two or three chassis numbers shared a livery (such as the Gulf or FINA cars) I only have one folder, instead of attempting to break it down all the way to the specific chassis number. I wish I had started out that way or could find a way to break them down now. There would be a lot of questionable ones though. For the GTRs that have been seen in the afterlife, either as road cars or privately owned GTRs, I have folders for those as well.

The Miscellaneous folder has the largest number of sub-folders. The main folders in there are Diecasts, Literature, Videos, Art & Posters, People, Wallpapers, Logos, Webpages, S70/2 V12, MTC, an LCC Rocket folder, and probably a few more I am forgetting. Inside of those folders are even more subfolders - I think the Literature folder actually has 5 or 6 layers of folder levels for some things. :screwy:

Here's that b&W shot of #07R from the preview on that temp folder. I believe this was found on Supercarfrance.com.

I have 2.40 gigabytes, 4,560 files, 147 subfolder--but there are plenty of large scans, bmp format (large filesize), duplicates, audio, and video.

I am sure that I have nowhere near as many as the true collectors have--mini magic and Peloton25. I go through phases, sometimes I save everything, other times I just stop caring.

Can't wait for the site to be finished so we can all have a common repository and yet maintain our own public and private galleries. :)

My pictures folder is about 1.56 GB, but the McLaren folder, which includes the pictures along with all the other content (videos, edited photos, etc) is a little over 3 GB.

Well for starters those aren't all photos, Yes, but I don't believe that the other 16,000 are composed of solely of web pages, movies, text files, and word documents. I have about 50 each of: F1 movies, saved F1 web pages, and text documents.

Even if 1000 of the 16000 are not pictures, you still apparently have access to a goldmine that the other members on the forum don't. Things like the information on the Brunei LMs show that you have access channels that other people (who aren't TVRFreak, XOTech and F1Monster) don't have. And even if you can account for some of those pictures as being "unreleasable" because owners don't want you to, that still leaves an awful lot that haven't been shared.

And before anybody calls me out on it: no, I'm not jealous -- I'm just not buying the explanation. To see such a huge disparity in collections on a forum where "openess" and "sharing" are encouraged, is a bit of a surprise, and a bit of an annoyance.

PS: Does anybody out there know how much money or social connections do I need to get a ticket to the next meeting of the inner circle?

I've heard there is a masonic handshake involving the baring of nipples and a high pitched shreek as well as an entry-ritual involving the 'de-flowering of virgins' and some kind of 'goat blood letting'.....
:smooch:

I kind of understand where you are coming from. however, if the right questions were asked i am sure Erik would share the answer from within his encyclopeadia of info - why show all the photos you have if one will answer the question?... EG - Erik may have 500 photo's of an LM for example, but if i were to ask a question about a specific part of the LM, why show all his collection? Just show the one(s) that will answer it. And as far as i am concerned there is no need in whipping up a storm about a ground-breaking fact on a particualr F1 until you are sure of the all facts; If this means holding on to info and getting it verified by sources who have a) asked to remain anonymous b) take time to get the answers for Erik c) Erik doesnt want to tick off then so be it. I would rather the info on here remains the best there is on the F1 rather than another run-of-the-mill forum asking more questions than answers

Just my:2cents:

Well said hurstg01. Here's my take on the situation. There have been people who have attempted to make the vast collection of photos available to everyone, namely f1 monster's website http://www.mclarenfreak.com. The main problem in trying to share the material that can be shared (those which are not confidential) is that it takes a whole lot of effort and webspace. I myself have built my collection by searching the forum when I first joined, lurking most of the time while people shared their finds, and sharing whatever I could find (either on the web, or in books). And I have only been a member for a few years. I don't think this discrepancy between the so called "elite" and the rest of us is intentional. One reason is that Peloton and some others have been looking for McLaren related info for far longer than the rest of us, hence their larger colletions of material. If anything, I think people like Peloton always go beyond what is necessary to share what they have.

Now, lets get this thread back to good spirits.

Even if 1000 of the 16000 are not pictures, you still apparently have access to a goldmine that the other members on the forum don't.

4.17 GB - 11,439 files - 467 folders make up the "Miscellaneous" folder. :uhoh:

For instance, there's over 4,000 files in the F1 Diecasts folder - I'm sure most people wouldn't save 100 photos of F1 diecasts. I, on the other hand, am a little strange... :icon16:

Some photos are duplicated 3-4 times as I have them saved at various resolutions.

Trust me when I say that you're really not missing much.

I built this collection for the most part on my own and with the help of people here. 80% of it has been shared on this forum by me or found here at one time or another having been shared by others. I'm sorry that you haven't been around as long to have the same opportunities. Of the remaining 20% - 10% of it is stuff I can't share and the other 10% of it is stuff that might be new to some people. It will all come out eventually - it does me no good to keep anything I'm allowed to share all to myself.

I am pretty sure you go to Tools, Folder Options then select a picture from your library of pictures to act as a particular folders' icon. I am at work at the mo so it may be a bit more involved than that, but you may be able to muddle through with what i've said.........

I think he is asking where I found the actual images I am using. I really don't remember exactly. :dunno: I didn't make them myself, but I believe they came from a random website someone made on the F1. I've had them forever and they aren't much bigger than what you see there on the folders.

I dont really have a huge hard drive of pics, but I do have original photos in a binder. I have to scan them all in some day.

Have a look at some here tell me if you have seen them:
(this is a picture that i have put together out of a few different pages and some of my favourite images)

http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/7052/f1pics0ch0lw.jpg

All various pics, sorted in order of every chassis, model, item, some even colours! (i.e GT, GTR, LM, ROADCAR, XP, even scale models, parts, technical stuff etc etc) All are original photographs not magazine cuttings or photocopies.

Im pretty sure there are 1000+ images, and my scanner is broke so i'm sure you can understand why they are not on here!

I'd love to have them for my gallery.

Happy to share them and sorry for the delay. I went to upload them last night and didn't realize that most of the files were .GIFs which the image host I was using doesn't support. I didn't have the time to convert them right away.

Here are the six seen in that screenshot of my folder properties and one additional from the set that I don't make use of:

http://a9.cpimg.com/image/ED/D6/56923629-5ee2-00780078-.jpg http://a1.cpimg.com/image/EF/D6/56923631-1421-00780078-.jpg http://a6.cpimg.com/image/F4/D6/56923636-8418-00780078-.jpg http://a3.cpimg.com/image/F1/D6/56923633-2cfb-00780078-.jpg http://a5.cpimg.com/image/F3/D6/56923635-9501-00780078-.jpg http://a0.cpimg.com/image/EE/D6/56923630-9240-00780078-.jpg http://a8.cpimg.com/image/EC/D6/56923628-1b06-00780078-.jpg

Here's the image I use for the top-level "McLaren" folder that houses those six folders (well 7 counting "temp"):

http://a7.cpimg.com/image/EB/D6/56923627-fcb6-00920086-.jpg

Before you ask - no, I do not have that image at a larger resolution. :disappoin

Here's another take on a similar theme. I think I "borrowed" these from www.mclarencars.com.ru - they are using some that are slightly different now if you want those as well.
