Afternoon,
I am trying to find out how to remove/replace oxygen sensors - can someone get me started in the right direction?

Thanks,
Amy

Which sensors are you wanting to replace and why. There are 4 sensors on your car. 2 are right behind the engine just below the manifold on either side. The other 2 are located between the converter and collector. The last 2 are easy to see and get to. The 2 front ones are kinda buried under the exhaust. It takes a 7/8 wrench or a O2 socket to replace them.

Need to replace because there is oil covering the sensor and no read out is available - if you are standing in front of the car it is the sensor on the left - the front 2 as you stated on either side of the manifold - I know we will have to buy a special tool for removal - thought we could remove ourselves and save some $ - might be better to replace both at the same time?

Thanks,

If it is on the passenger side front it is bank 1 sensor 1. If the sensors are original(probably) I would replace both. Might even consider the rears in the future.

not to disrespect you way2old but there are only two scensors on the manifolds for that year not sure what years there was 4 but there is only two for the 1992 and you can get a special tool from any parts store that is a socket with a side cut out to fit the wire around and do them from the top ive found its not to hard but the pass side connecter is bout the hardest part so good luck

Thanks for the information - is there somewhere I can look that will tell me exactly how to remove/replace the sensors?

There is no special technique needed to replace the sensors. Just have the tool to remove the sensor and install new one. The hard part is getting to them. Since cobradude refreshed my memory, these are just barely accesible from the top. It is very clese quarters, but you can remove them. You are right cobradude. I got OBDII stuck in my head now. This one is an EECIV. Thanks for jogging my memory.
