My girlfriend picked had a wreck on MLK day, and finally got another car. It's a silver 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE. It's a damn nice car....loaded out with pretty much anything I can think of. Motor seems pretty stout as well(3.5L). What kinda performance have these things got stock? Anybody with any numbers? Also, I'm looking for an exhaust for her, but I absolutely cannot stand the bumblebee sound!!!! I'm looking for something similar to the stock 350z sound, maybe a hair deeper. No fart cans!!!! What other mods would I want to look at to help the performance out of this car? We're getting married this year, so I need to start looking to built MRS. SLOWPROCESS.

Does it have the VQ35? If so, there are endless options you can utilize to go about modding. I don't think you would need to worry about getting a fart can noise out of a good exhaust, go with the usual, IHE...then TURBO!

the 02's+have the Vq35 and they make 255 hp, 246 lbs of tq. they're ususally good for high 14's stock maybe low 15's since it's automatic, car and driver got a 14.7@97 mph in oct '02. i ran mine at the track one time and got a best of 15.03@94mph.
the best exhaust to go with IMO is by cattman, the majority of the parts he makes are specifically for maxima's. http://www.cattman.com/. some of the products he makes for the maxima like headers and downpipe aren't listed on the site yet, but you can email him for them.

I really appreciate the info, guys! It's going to be fun and a nice change of pace working on an import. Thanks for the link! Can't wait to start hooking this thing up as well. I can't ever leave anything alone. :grinno:

Just get the supercharger. By the time you ordered IHE, you're already halfway there to the supercharger, and in the meantime she can enjoy a quiet ride.

this is the kind of sound you can expect from a maxima with a cat-back exhaust and an intake. this vid's from when i had my 95 maxima and it's a stillen cat-back on there, the 3.5 makes a slightly deeper sound from what i've heard.

if you want to avoid the raspy, "bee's in a can" kind of sound stay away from hks and greddy and make sure the exhaust system has a resonator if you decide to do headers and/or a down pipe.
this thread's making me want to get an exhaust for my car.
