Ok so i have a little black box with an on off switch and a key in it. The guy i bought it from said it was for traction control but when i actually looked at it there was a person and what looks to be an airbag. So i am wondering if this turns the passenger airbag off, or if it truly is for the traction control. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

From what I can see in the manual, the only switch that is in the glove box is for the traction control. An easy way to test it is to turn it off, go to a gravel road and see if the rear wheels spin without the PCM trying to stop them. The air bag system soes not show a passenger de-activation switch.

I have only seen key switches on 2 door vehicles that turn off the passenger air bags. Most likely it's the traction control if it's a 98, but if it has a key on it, it could be for the air bags. if it ios for the TC the TC light on the instrument cluster should come on solid.
