question about tire size??sportin83 02-25-2006, 01:05 AM okay on my 22's i have 305/45/22's and i want to go with a little bit shorter tire, what do i take off?? is it the 305 or the 45. the width is fine, i just want them to be a 1/4 inch or so shorter than they are now. some help would be great. and has any one heard of this brand of tire, they are really cheap. its called WANLI they have them on ebay?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8039032144&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT tsmurphy72 02-25-2006, 05:47 PM the 305 is the section width of the tire in millimeters. The 45 is the Aspect ratio. The Profile of the sidewall is 45% of the section width. 305x.45 =137.25 mm 305x.40=122 mm The diffrence is .60 inches so the overall wheel diameter would decrease by 1.2". You would have to play with the section width and aspect ratio but you can't reduce by 1/4" with the 305. sportin83 02-26-2006, 02:09 PM the 305 is the section width of the tire in millimeters. Good luck. sportin83 02-27-2006, 08:38 PM what tire brand would you choose? ive looked into kumho, 196 each shipped hankook, 242 each shipped wanli, 175 each shipped they all have A rating on temperature and traction and seem to be about 420 treadwear rating. would like some opinions on what you guys would buy. thanks sportin83 02-27-2006, 08:41 PM how important is the treadwear rating on tires?? what is the major differece between lets say a 280 and a 420 rating?? sportin83 03-01-2006, 12:42 AM bump tsmurphy72 03-01-2006, 08:40 PM The higher the treadwear number the longer the tire tread will last but the tread is harder. Are all the tires the same speed rating? Are these all independent companies or a subdivision of a company like Goodyear. If you can get the info the sidewall and tread construction are listed on the sidewall. The number and material of plies and belts will be listed. Maybe hard to find out if buying online but ask anyways. I would look at the tread design. Nubby wide channels or smooth narrow channels based on your driving conditions. There seems to be a big difference in price there must be a differenc,e try to find the info I listed above. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
