05 Camry univen ware on the front breaksnmikmik 02-24-2006, 04:47 PM Does anyone have a same problem with front breaks on 05 Camry. I know she droves a LOT, my wife that is, but if pads ware out, they should ware out evenly outside and on the inside. This one wares out pads on the inside only. Is there any TSBs or recalls on that? Thanks! RIP 02-24-2006, 06:03 PM If I remember correctly, it's normal for the inside pads to wear faster than the outside pads, to a degree. However, if half or more of the outsides are still there when the insides are shot, you may have a problem. I'm guessing bound up slider pins. Any brake wizes out there? However, if half or more of the outsides are still there when the insides are shot, you may have a problem. I'm guessing bound up slider pins. Any brake wizes out there? RIP is correct. It is normal for the pad on the piston side of the caliper to show "slightly" more wear than the non-piston side. The pad on the piston side makes contact with the rotor first and then the caliper "slides" to force the other pad to contact the rotor. This is for single, or 2 piston calipers with both pistons on the same side. Toyota Camrys use this type of caliper. If there is significantly more wear on the inboard pad, then you have a sliding problem. When you have the brakes done or do them yourself, just make sure whoever does them relubricates the slide pins and that the rubber boots covering the slide pins are not ripped.
