2000 Silverado..weird dash sound!thejackman 02-22-2006, 12:52 AM Alright I am going to try to explain this as best I can. When I am turning, accelerating, or stopping there is a sound in the dash(seems to be in the middle) that sounds like sloshing water. I mean it sounds like there is a small bucket of water sloshing around in there! It doesn't happen all the time, but it is there. I thought I was going crazy but my friends here it too. Does anyone have any idea as to what this might be?!?! nathank 02-26-2006, 11:28 AM Mine does this as well. Mine sounds like a tiny stream of water going from one place to another, or kinda like a coffee or tea maker. I have no idea what it is, but here's a ttt to hopefully find someone who does. Rugerlab 02-26-2006, 01:16 PM Is it like a gurgling sound? I had that in my 99 for a while and was told by the dealer to add coolant. I don't remember why it made the sound when the coolant was low but adding more made it go away. Not for sure if this is your problem or not but its an easy fix if it is. thejackman 02-27-2006, 01:08 PM Thanks for the advice! I added the coolent and the sound went away! OGG 02-27-2006, 06:39 PM Low coolant probably causes the sound because there are bubbles in the system. shoester 02-27-2006, 11:42 PM I get that same sound when my truck is cold. Once it warms up it goes away. I never gave it much thought since it only takes a few minutes for my truck to warm up but I'll check my coolant level just in case. nathank 02-28-2006, 04:20 PM I swapped my water pump last weekend, so I had to drain the whole system. I haven't noticed it being there since so maybe the drain and refill took care of it. shoester 03-01-2006, 07:01 PM I checked my coolant level today and it was fine. Today was unseasonably warm (80 degrees) and my truck didn't make the noise. Can anybody figure out why mine only makes the noise when the truck is cold? 2000CAYukon 03-01-2006, 07:50 PM I checked my coolant level today and it was fine. Today was unseasonably warm (80 degrees) and my truck didn't make the noise. Can anybody figure out why mine only makes the noise when the truck is cold? Did you check the level when the engine was warm or cold? You should really check it after it sits overnight and make sure it is upto the cold mark on the overflow tank. //2000CAYukon shoester 03-01-2006, 10:13 PM I did check the level when the engine was warm, so tomorrow morning before I fire it up, I'll check it again. Thanks for the insight. shoester 03-02-2006, 03:43 PM I checked the level this morning after the truck sat all night and the fluid level was low. Now, that solved the problem. Thanks for all the help. pipe539 03-03-2006, 08:14 PM My 99 makes that noise too the stealer-ship said it was a restricter orifice in the heater core or some where. I'm Glad that some one else has herd that noise and knows what the fix is. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
