Cabin air filter question

First off I have a 93 Jeep GJ Laredo so I don't even know if they have cabin air filters or not. But when I turn on the heat it has an odor for about half a minute and then it goes away. My sister owned this Jeep before I did and she let it sit for a long time because she got a new Toyota Highlander :disappoin before I had my liscense so she left it in kind of bad shape. It actually spit out leaf particles when I turned the vents on so I'm sure it's a mess in there. I looked near the wipers in the front but I didn't see any filter that was accessable.

There is a drain hose in the blower compartment. You got gunk plugging it up and some water is still in there causing the smell. You have to unclog it and all will be well.

You may have to remove the heater core and condenser and use a cleaner available at the dealer. Mold can grow on the condenser causing a musty smell..

Wouldn't the condenser be used for air conditioning? The a/c in my GJ is broke and it was estimated to cost about a grand to fix it. I looked for the hoses and they are the ones coming off the engine that are labeled heat right? I really don't know all that much about car engines yet. I did look at the panel under the wipers and there is still some junk in there which would explain why some matter still does fly out of the vents in the car from time to time.

This is a common problem. Leaves come in through the cowl screen, get chopped up by the fan and settle in the eveporator. With this organic matter and water (condensation) mix it creates a fowl odor. First you need to be sure the evaporator drains correctly. Then I'd replace the cowl screen with the one with smaller holes. Then I'd spray evaporator cleaner into the evaporator. If your evaporator is shot (from what you say it is) one thing you can do to avoid the trouble and expense of the TSBs is turn your heat and fan on high and spray a can of Lysol into the cowl screen. This will work for a while.

This is what I was looking at earlier. I removed a bunch of crap in there. I wasn't able to get the whole cover off because of the wipers. But probably this weekend when I have more time to work on it I'll try looking around in tehre a bit more and see if I can do that lysol trick if anything. Thanks.
