Idler pulley questionGrebus1 02-21-2006, 04:01 AM I have a '97 w/ 3.0L OHC which I believe has a shot idler pulley bearing. Does the idler pulley just bolt on in the center and is it replaced as a unit? I'm new to serpentine belts--I'm used to the v-type belts on older cars, and this will be my first experience removing and replacing a serpentine. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated... I'll probably also replace the alternator at the same time as I believe it's original w/ 103K miles. Any special issues there? joe92k1500 02-21-2006, 09:31 AM Idler pully is just one bolt in the center and it comes off as one assembly. Comes off real easy. To remove the belt you'll need a 15mm wrench to put on the tensioner pully another wrench piggy back for leverage and pull toward the front of the car to release the belt.
