I have a '97 w/ 3.0L OHC which I believe has a shot idler pulley bearing. Does the idler pulley just bolt on in the center and is it replaced as a unit? I'm new to serpentine belts--I'm used to the v-type belts on older cars, and this will be my first experience removing and replacing a serpentine. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated...

I'll probably also replace the alternator at the same time as I believe it's original w/ 103K miles. Any special issues there?

Idler pully is just one bolt in the center and it comes off as one assembly. Comes off real easy. To remove the belt you'll need a 15mm wrench to put on the tensioner pully another wrench piggy back for leverage and pull toward the front of the car to release the belt.
