Goodbye to AC?therealrayman 02-20-2006, 08:24 PM Okay, ive lived in florida all my life and dealing with the heat is no problem. since i've bought the car, the ac hasn't worked, and i was considering removing some of the ac accesories. If i remove the ac compressor, pulley, etc. i'll still have heat and stuff right? Isn't that a different system or if i remove the compressor, etc will my heat go kaput? Also, i removed my fan shroud while working on my car ( still working on it :banghead: ). It was annoying removing that thing, can i just leave it off or will those vacuum lines be in deep doo if i do? (lol, doo if i do). I figured maybe i could just zip tie em or is that just a retarded idea? Also (he he), theres a big, pain in the bee-hind, bracket bolted to the bottom of the intake manifold. I know that its a brace but i do i really need it? I'm having hell getting to it now so i can pull the mani., can i just leave it off or is it too big of a danger to the mani + head? (too much stress?). I know i'm probably beggin' a good flamin' with some of these questions, but help me out fellas :1zhelp: :boink: TatII 02-20-2006, 08:33 PM without the fan shroud you might overhead in traffic. the fan shroud helps create a low pressure area behind the radiator so it helps cause flow all across the whole core area. the A/C has nothing to do with the heater. the heater core is connected to a heater hose by the intake manifold and the core itself is behind the firewall some where. so you can take the compressor off, the lines and the condensor to save some weight. also if your dead set on removing the fan shroud you can always zip tie the vacuum lines away from the fan's harm. 240SXSlideStar 02-20-2006, 09:18 PM Don't zip them to tight tho, don't wanna squeeze them. Also, does the AC stuff interfear with clearance for an intercooler? nissan_240sx 02-20-2006, 10:23 PM Also, does the AC stuff interfear with clearance for an intercooler? I think it should be ok slideways... 02-20-2006, 10:34 PM i think youll be ok with the bracket off on a relatively stock motor. i forgot to put mine back on when i put the motor back in and i have had no problems at all, driving hard or soft, now almost 7000 miles later. if you boost alot you may have issues with the head flexing at higher rpm, id bet this is why nissan used them in the first place. and i took the a/c off right away on my car because it didnt work. no reason to leave it on unless you need it and are gonna spend the dough converting to r134a and recharging it. and id definitely suggest you leave your fan shroud on. the bottom part that goes under the fan is sort of optional though, since mine broke off and i havent had any problems so far. just make sure you have your undertray to prevent shit flying up into the fan. AWDSR20 02-21-2006, 12:44 AM get electric fans, no a/c , is up to u... FMI will clear the condencer...but not the F bumper suport. therealrayman 02-21-2006, 08:36 AM okay, after i pick some new tools (yay), i'll break the compressor etc. loose. From you guys have said, i'll go ahead and keep the shroud though (i don't want issues with heat, i had a honda once and was in overheating hell with that thing). Also, i dont' have any plans to boost this car, the body isn't in the best of shape and i'd rather wait until either i get another 240 or just a shell. So i guess i'll remove the bracket too. Thanks for your helps guys, i'll keep you posted. AWDSR20 02-21-2006, 08:23 PM then why remove the a/c? 240SXSlideStar 02-21-2006, 08:37 PM Because he wants to save wait, it doesn't work anyways. BTW in your sig, it's FN01R-C not FNORC-1. lol nissan_240sx 02-21-2006, 09:57 PM ^ lol I caught that too AWDSR20 02-22-2006, 02:49 AM wow.... 3 month later someoen caught it.... lol, i'm on it tnx ! btw, when u remove the a/c don't scratch the radiator... AWDSR20 02-22-2006, 02:49 AM i need to post pix of my car.... 240SXSlideStar 02-22-2006, 12:30 PM Yeah you do! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
