99 durango - starting problemjawled 02-20-2006, 02:09 PM my durango will not start sometimes. when this happens, i'll turn the key and it will do nothing. But when I open the door, I can hear a clicking sound coming from underneath the passenger side dash board. This continues for a while, then eventually the clicking stops, everything comes back and it will start again. any thoughts??? SaintPaul 03-11-2006, 07:25 PM I am having the EXACT same problem. I have changed out the battery twice and it will start once or twice when the new battery is installed, then nothing, just clicking. The last new battery was installed by a mechanic who also tested the alternator. The alternator is fine according to him and the test equipment... any ideas would be awesome... Stevo2 03-12-2006, 01:07 AM Have you checked both ends of all the battery cables to make sure they are squeeky clean and tight? SaintPaul 03-13-2006, 12:28 AM Yeah, 2nd brand new battery, and like I said it was installed by a mechanic, because I didnt have time. He cleaned the connectors and all that, so that shouldn't be an issue... I have looked around on other boards and posted a bunch of other places, with no response yet. I looked at all my fuses and relay's and made sure they were seated and everything. I need to get this thing running pretty soon.... :banghead: Stevo2 03-15-2006, 04:01 AM If you cycle the ignition switch on and off several times will this change the symptoms? t-bank 03-16-2006, 01:50 PM My guess is a starter problem. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
