I got my 22re shortblock from the shop, and there is a big threaded hole in the rear driver side of the block that must be for a water line to thread into, but I can't find the part in my pile of parts. can someone take a picture of their engine in the rear just under the manifold so I can see what it looks like. In case I have lost it, what is it called so I can replace it?

Very cool of you to post that. So you think it's just a plug? Is that your motor? If you drive a 22re, would you mind checking to see if there is a hose going to that? Thanks a lot for your response. By the way, I've got all the timing components together and I painted the block hot rod green. Maybe I'll post some pictures of mine as I go if anyone is interested.

I dont know ... you tell me ?

yes It is my motor ... or was , I built it . and now sold it ... you can see why on the link below (2WD link)
so , do you see the hole ? is it the one with the brass drain in it ? There is NO hose that goes to it .

You're sure right. I found the drain plug in my haynes book. I guess the guys at the engine shop just didn't put it in my box of goodies. You were a huge help. I want to show my progress but I don't know how to post a picture. As embarassing as it is. I will try to learn and get them up.

Here's the rest of the truck. This was taken before the project began. Water and oil were mixing and I tried changing the head gasket and it didn't work. After all this, it turned out to be the timing chain wearing through the cover.
