I am looking for a pay site for manuals, technical assistance, etc. for non-mechanics. I've looked at AllData (took the free tour) allows to register for something like $25 a year for one vehicle, you get a deal to register a second . . . went to Mitchell (OnDemand5.com). Which is better and why? Are there others I should consider?

You are a "non-mechanic"? You may have trouble reading the Alldata and Mitchell manuals. No offense buddy, but they are very technical and they use the trade lingo to explain stuff, and they don't come with a glossary of terms. There are two sites that I use for help on vehicles that stump me, I mentioned them in a thread a while back. Here is the link.

Just make sure you know the production date and the VIN of your car before asking questions. Both of these sites welcome people asking questions, and the Flatrate Tech site has a whole history of all makes of cars and issues with them.

No offense taken - I appreciate the input. AllData has one section for mechanics, and one titled DIY. Not sure about Mitchell or the links you posted. I can handle the technical lingo to a point. What I like is they have a technical rating scale that gives you some idea whether you can tackle something or whether it's best to leave it to a journeyman. There was a time when I thought brakes were too technical to touch, now I can do them with my eyes closed.
