I have a 2000 Silverado reg cab long bed 4x4 and a 2002 Neon ACR. I was thinking of trading both of them in to buy a New ext cab Chevy. I was getting prices on the cheaper model with crank windows and Manual 4 wheel drive. Is it worth spending more on the Electronic 4 wheel drive/windows,....? Is there any thing wrong with the manual vs electric ?

Thanks

Honestly, if you get down and dirty with the dealers, crews are cheaper than x-cabs right now. If you go to edmonds.com and build (basically) your perfect truck in x-cab and crew, you should notice the bottom dollar (invoice - rebates), should be less on the crew. ALSO, I just purchased a crew and did about 2 - 3 weeks of homework and shopping before I made the purchase. By the time I made the purchase, I found the exact same truck at two dealers in my town. I went back and forth until one finally said "I can go half way on that"... which means I hit rock bottom finally. I paid $20,200 for my 06 CC LS with 4.8 PW PL Auto w/ tranny cooler. (new) Sticker was $25,750.00. I also got the $20,200 with a spray in liner, which is what the other dealer was only going to pay half of.

Just remember, edmonds is your friend, and don't let them use the "Will you buy this truck today" line. Doesn't sound like you're in a pinch, so don't let them put you in a pinch. From what I found, any dealer should be able to give you invoice less rebates without too much pressure. Then it's a matter of how low after that. Don't forget all GM products have a new MSRP. Some of the new MSRP's are hitting the lot already on the true sticker, others are not shown (unless the dealer put it on the window). Edmonds will give you the NEW MSRP. Don't let a dealer yank you around with the old MSRP. Hope this helps some.

Two sources I found helpfull...

UFCU - Wheels 101 (http://www.ufcu.org/browse.php?content_name=wheels_newsflash)
Edmonds - link to Silverado (http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/chevrolet/silverado1500/index.html?)

You may also want to wait for the next body style to come out for the Silverado. I'm not sure exactly when this is, but since the Tahoe just went through a complete redo I'd imagine the truck isn't far off. And hopefully, like the new tahoe, they will FINALLY put in a newly styled dash. GM needs to quit being so one dimensional with their interiors and quit using this cheap-ass plastics.:banghead:

Make sure you get the Factory to Dealer rebates on your truck. These rebates they will not offer willingly. got to talk them into it.

Good luck on the purchase of your new truck!

Less problems with the manual shift 4wd.

I have the push button and I have 141K miles on it and I have not have had any problems with it. (I use mine fairly frequently) Plus if you get the push button, you get the Auto 4wd that the manual doesn't give you. (at least in 2000 they didn't). it's convient for hwy/street use when it is snowing and/or raining.

Hello all,
I Just bought a 2006 Silverado CC Z71 5.3L. I built a ext. cab on the chevy web site but when I got there the stealer' of course showed me a step-up*a CC* version of what I built. The Z71 CC I bought was like $1000 more then the 4x4 ext. cab:eek2: The Crew Cab prices rock right now...I asked them how the hell they expected me to buy a truck when the GM Employee pricing is gone?
He said that NOW Chevy has some "Equity based price rebate":wtf: they said reguardless of what program is going on "just give me a minute"...."it's all a spin on numbers." Blah Blah....
$27,800 before tax/title/lic...Oh thats with the GM supplier discount..+$1700 down payment.

Pics coming soon as the weather permits..

Exactly right. You can, in some cases, get a better price right now than with the discount. With the discount, sure you got a great price, but they screw you on your trade. Luckily, I didn't have a trade.

Three things you should try to always do...
1) Do PLENTY of homework
2) Try not to go alone - have a voice of reason with you, not just a "buddy"
3) don't be skeered to walk out. If they can give you that price, so can someone else.

Bonus) sell your car on your own. Many dealers will do an "in and out" for you and, for a small fee ($200 bucks or so), do all the paperwork to sell your old car to a buyer YOU FIND!! This way, you get full $$ for your trade, they handle the paperwork (maybe even the other person loan), and you still get a deal on your new vehicle. Heck, if you place an ad on cars.com, or autotrader.com or... and spend $40/$50, add that plus the in/out fee to the sale price and you're still in the clear, plus an extra grand or more in your pocket.

I just bought a 2006 Ext Cab LT 4X4 5.3 V8 for 26,000 out the door. Sticker was 32,000 and the mark down was to 30,000. I could've gotten a CC for a similar price.

I had two dealers trying to beat the other to get my sale. The first dealer finally said 26 without tax, title... So I went to the second and he gave me 26 with tax and title... and he had coupons for this and that...

It was fun to watch how they both worked on me... but tiring. I had my last truck for 12 years, so I don't intend to do this again for a while.

Wow, those are some good prices on new (06) trucks. The ones I have been pricing are simply taking the 2500 off the MSRP and that is it! I did find a hell of a deal on a new (05) 2500HD. This is a loaded out 6.0, 4x4, ext. cab standard box. MSRP was 36,800 they would sell for 26,500! That is a lot of truck for the $. I found two of these trucks identical except color. My buddy is a diesel man and he found a dealer with two loaded out Dodge 4x4 four door Cummins (05), this is a 43,000 truck, sale price 32,000 OTD!

I also just bought a 2006 1500 z71 Ext cab. MSRP 35,500. The dealership was falling all over itself to sell me a chevy. (I was at the Dodge dealership first to get a baseline with an employee discount. They came up with 26500 but who would buy a Dodge they ride like shit) I used this number without telling them it was with an employee discount of course. My final price when I walked out was 28000 w/o tax title and license. Plus GM gave me 2000 rebate from my GM credit card. I was just shopping around but I couldn't pass up this deal.

one of the things I learned, is if you have a trade in do not tell them you have a trade in.. always negotiate price on the vehicle you are buying then tell them you have a trade in. My Truck 2000 Z71 ext Cab. (bought it new MRSP $29,800) got them down to $24,000, then when they found out I had a trade-in.. HAHA they were screwed. I ended up financing $21,000 on my truck.

remember you can negotate the price ie: buy for lower price as A first time buyer I learned the hard way I feel I payed too much for mine the next car or truck I buying WILL be lower then the sticker price !!

Make sure $33,800 is the NEW MSRP, not the old MSRP. The new one may be closer to $31K or so, which means is still a good deal, just make sure they're not yanking you around with the old price.

Nobody... I mean NOBODY should ever pay sticker price for a vehicle.. even dealers know that.

Unless it is a hot wanted vehicle.. then of course they can sell it for whatever they want.

It's always something.. if you would have gotton that deal.. next week they would have come out with even a better deal. Don't sweat it.. Spray in bedliners are only $500.00 :) If you do get a spray on Bedliner, go with Line X. Garanteed for the life of your truck.
