I bought a set of Taylor Spiro-Pro cables and found that the fancy boots won't fit in the stock heat shield tubes. Has anyone had a problem leaving the heat shields off?

You would be better off using OEM type plug wires with the heat shieldswill work on.
They put them on there for a good reason not decoration.

I used some Accel 8mm wires on my truck and the shields fit fine
