96 blazer engine replacementredtoygts 02-17-2006, 06:44 PM Sorry for the dumb question but I'm replacing the engine in my blazer and I am having difficulty reaching the top left bell housing to engine bolt. The trans-tunnel is preventing me from getting in there. Is there an easy way to remove this bolt with out removing the engine and transmission as a whole? Can I just lower the transmission to gain clearance? Any imput would be very helpful as it is the only thing holding this project up. maxwedge 02-17-2006, 07:28 PM Long extension, flex socket and lower the trans will help of course. Rick Norwood 02-17-2006, 08:03 PM Usually an 18"-24" extension works on Bell housing bolts. herkyhawki 02-17-2006, 10:24 PM It can be reached from the top with a box end wrench. If you remove the intake first. Another way is to drill through the floor board from inside. The bolt is directly behind the gas pedal. Measure 3 times, drill once. If you first drill with a small bit, you can see if you are in right spot before making it bigger. If all else fails you can do it like a ford. http://flatratetech.com/images/nav_how_to.htm MT vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
