Trouble at the pumps, nozzle shuts off

I just purchased a 2002 CVPI with 100k miles. After taking ownership, I stopped at the gas station to fill up after driving 75 miles. Once the nozzle was inserted, I pulled up on the nozzle handle and after .5 gallons the nozzle tripped off. It would do this every half gallon until the tank was full. I wrote it off as a fluke as this has happened on other vehicles, but is always seemed like a nozzle issue. Unfortunately, the same thing happened at three other gas stations. I suspect a problem with the vent hose for the gas tank, or charcoal cannister assy. Has anyone had similar issues? If so, please describe the steps taken to resolve this problem. Thank you very much.

Mine does that too. What I do is just put the tip of nozzle in the filler, not all the way. Just know when you're about full so you can slow down any spillage.
