I am thinking about buying a used not lifted 97-04 wrangler with the 4 cylnder 5 speed, maybe the I6. Is there any problem that these jeeps have or is there anything i need to watch out for when buying one.

Thanx

I HAVE A 2002 WRANGLER. THESE TRUCKS ARE BULLETPROOF!!!!!!!!!! THE 4 CYL IS A GOOD ENGINE BUT IF I WERE YOU ID GET THE 6. THE 6'S ARE KNOWN FOR GOING WAY OVER THE 200,000 MARK. I JUST THINK THE 4 CYLINDERS ARE UNDERPOWERD AND IF YOU WANT TO PUT BIGGER TIRES ON IT YOU WILL NEED THE POWER OF THE 6 TRUST ME. ALL IN ALL A JEEP WRANGLER IS A GOOD DEAL THEY ARE VERY FUN IN ALL SEASONS AND VERY RELIABLE. THE ONLY BAD THING IS THAT J eeps E mpty E very P ocket. :)

I bought a 99 Sport. Very minor issues, mostly due to some of the care if was given. It's got the 6 in it and am very pleased with it. Every person I spoke to who had the 4 hated the lack of power. If you go for the lift, you don't want a 4.

having a 6 and knowing someone with the 4 unfortinutly their is a MPG difference. the 4 gets about 24 and my six got about 17 before the lift, running stock 30" tires. now with about 6.5" of lift and 33's it gets about 13 or so. but with it'll go anywhere

There are a few things you want to make sure you get when buying a Wrangler (TJ.)

1. Make sure you get the 6cyl. Yes, the 4cyl is a decent motor, but it is underpowered. If you get the 4cyl in about 6 months you will be really wishing you had the 6cyl.

2. Make sure you get the D44 rear end. The D35 is decent, but if you want to build on it in the future you are going to want the D44. Even if you don't want to do any mods in the future the D44 is just a better rear.
