91 GT Clutch Problems

Heres the thing, If you hold the clutch in for awhile like say waiting for a light or sitiing in a drivethru, when you release the clutch it wants to jump or stall out. while your holding the clutch in you can feel it loosing pressure.
but if you disengage the clutch while waiting it's not that bad. There is no problem shifting into other gears they all hit fine althought people have told me thay have a hard time getting from one gear to another. Maybe I'm just used to it having the 91 and a 93 lx.

when you say losing pressure do u mean the clutch starts to engage after sitting for a period of time?

i would check the slave cylinder, sounds like its starting to leak, my 94 did that it when it first started it would build up enough pressure to disengage the clutch but when it completley went it was a fin trip to the garage with no clutch

Yeah I know all about driving with no clutch. in my girlfriends 204sx the slave went while we were in Montreal, the only gears i had were 2nd and 5th but when i stopped it wasn't by choice.
I don't know what the car is doing, When you push the clutch in it works and you can change gears with no problems but if you ride the clutch for any longer then a minute it wants to jump when you try to release it. So what i have been doing is if i have to do rev it up and pop the clutch quickly

Loosen the slave bleed valve and pump the clutch a couple of times, then close the bleed valve. I think you might have air in the system. Keep the reservoir topped off with fluid. Have somebody hold the clutch down on the last pump and then close the bleed valve and then let up on the clutch pedal.

Where should I be looking for the slave, to bleed the valve. I would hope it's something as simply as bleeding the line, I think replaceing the bearings would cost a lot of money that i don't have.

Thanks fot the Idea.

On mine it is in the front between the engine and transmission. It is about in the middle of the front of the car. There is a flexible rubber hose going from the lower firewall on the drivers side (clutch master cylinder) to the middle of the engine-transmission Halfway from the top to the bottom. It has a nipple on the top and it is a cylinder with the end of it fitting into an arm going into the housing. The line running from the clutch master cylinder is made out of metal with rubber hoses on each end. I hope you can find it. It's not hard to bleed and could solve your problem. If you still have trouble finding it, have somebody push on the clutch while you are looking in the general area I described. You can see the end of the slave cylinder moving on the clutch arm going into the housing. I wish I was there. I would point it out to you. Any shop could do it for you, but with a minimum of 1 hr. of labor it would be best to do it yourself.

Yeah I was out looking at it today, and i was in the right spot. Thanks a lot. I'm gonna do an oil change shortly so while i'm under the car i'll bleed the Slave aswell because i don't think my short little arms can do it from up top.
I hope that is the problem if not i'll have to enlist the help of some pros who can do it for me.

Thanks Davescort97
