1996 Accord with the 2.2L engine and I am getting error code 8 and 9. Drove the vehicle and it was running just fine. Stopped for short period of time and when it restarted the check engine light came on. The car would only run a short distance and die. It wants to start but won't. The camshaft is turning, there is spark and gas. I have spark at the distributor and the loosening the fuel line before the injector shows that there is good pressure from the fuel pump. The code is for the TDC sensor. Carquest didn't know what one was and even so it could be a symptom. Anyone got an idea what could have happened to the engine?

Could it be the ICM?

I doubt the ICM.

When I looked it up I got this:

8
TDC position/crank angle sensor or circuit.

9
Crank angle sensor or circuit./
#1 cylinder position

The TDC sensor is also sometimes called the camshaft position sensor, so that might help with them never hearing of it before. But it is a seperate sensor from the crank angle sensor. In older models it was located in the distributor, and the whole distributor needed to be replaced if it went bad. Somebody PLEASE let me know if it's not there on a 96.

Anyway, before going out and buying a new distributor. Check the wiring to the ECU. It may just have grounded out. Simple, free fix.
