Does anyone know what donor car I can get a 12 bolt posi out of that will bolt right up in a 63 nova? Thanks for your help

Can't say for sure, but '67-'69 F-body (Firebird/Camaro) is real close!

Moser Enginerring, among others, offers a "bolt-in" deal.

Don't get a 12-bolt!

Go to the junkyard and look for a '67-up Valiant, Duster or Dart with slant 6. These cars have the same 8 3/4 Chrysler rear that went into 440 Cudas and Road Runners. With perhaps 150,000 miles behind a slant 6, there will be little or no wear. Install a Sure-Grip center section with 3.23, 3.55 or 3.91 gears.

Get some HD brakes off an Imperial or big Mopar station wagon while you're at the junkyard. Weld on some Nova spring pads and bolt it in. Have a Mopar U-joint installed on the end of your driveshaft and you're in business!

We did this on our 388-powered '63 Chevy II post and it was less than half the cost of a 12-bolt or 9 inch. And the bearings, etc. of the 8 3/4 are much bigger than in the GM or Ford axles. Our racer friends put us on to this swap because they last so much longer in brutal strip flogging.

Oh, yeah. Unless you redrill the hubs and drums, you'll have a Ford/Chrysler bolt pattern in the rear. We left it alone because there's no way we'd ever swap the 7 x 15 rear Torq-Thrusts with the 4 1/2 x 15's we run on the front.

If someone ever rips off the rear wheels, I'll be consoled just thinking what a tough time the thief will have trying to jam the stolen wheels onto his Chevy!
