Hey Stefanel, why do you think Renault doesn't do any business here in Canada? I used to work for Renault dealer workshop back in Russia. I love Espace 4X4....Safrane....etc. Nice cars, a bit expensive for parts though.

Big deal ! Renault in North America more generally, that's the Renault LeCar (R5) and Alliance (R9 and R11)..... I mean not the best Reanult !!

The LeCar had problems with rust and was expensive even in France, so you can infer the price in the USA and Canada. There was no correct AC neither.

If Renault had exported the R25, Espace, R21 and R19 in the 80's, they could have succeed I think. But there was another problem : the dealer network which was very poor.

For Peugeot and Alfa Romeo it was the same problem : Peugeot had the 405 (no V6, and a poor AC, and very expensive, the handling was not an argument for Americans), and 505 (becoming old and expensive too.
Again, the problem of dealer network. Same thing for Alfa with little problems of reliability.

Now, Alfa is coming back in North America in 2008, and Peugeot (taht's not official yet) before 2010. But they do have excellent models, reliable, with excellent engines, a good built quality and prices correct. I hope that they have understood thesignificance of a good network. But the alliances between PSA and Ford and between Fiat Spa and GM is maybe not just a chance.
Regarding Renault, I worked at the Technocentre de Guyancourt last year, and they were not planning at all to come back in the USA now. That's a shame as they own 44,1% of Nissan which has a real network in the USA/Canada. Plus, their cars are very good too and have an original design (you like or you dislike but the Mégane II for example sells very well in Europe).

.... whooo ! have I answered your question ? :D
