I want to get something for my car but i want to get something that makes me get off the start faster, but not a turbo cause i cant afford that yet. but something that helps me beat someone off the start like if i was goin to race someone at a light, and i already have a k&n cold air intake and exhaust. but i was thinkin maybe new cams, or cam gears but im not sure

Nitrous, preferably a wet system.

if you're an auto, theres not much you can do, maybe a chip.

a full bolt-on auto zetec with tuned chip will only make about 130whp

what do u consider full bolt-on?

header, cam gears(gear if you want to keep VCT), exhasut, intake, pully, tuned chip, plug wires, throttle body, and coil

on an auto thats 130WHP/125wtq, on a manual thats 140whp/140wtq

(depending on dyno load and how good the tune and what brand parts were used, strength of the motor ect...)

the cam gears might help on the advance and retard to adjust your powerband a little lower for you, but that is something i would rather not screw with, at least not without someone knowledgable there to assist so i dont do something wrong.

where can i find all these parts (excluding ebay)?

well lets see merely from googling *which is where i started when i was looking for parts. i found places like zx2racing.com, zxtuner.com, mordernperformance.com, escortfocus.com, there are lots, and tehre are also some more controversial types. for instance Gude.com has heads, cams, turbos. < but be careful not all parts fit directly, these fitment problems can be a major hassle. BUT: if you are a cheap ass like me there is a site i am trying to find again. pretty much what it does is it tells you about the stock stuff they put on your car and using things like vaccum hoses ( like from a shop vac), to make a cold air induction, as well as locations and how best to remove those pesky "cancer spots" (like the one on the intake hose near the manufold) and preplace them like with pvc, the site was really well done, and if anyone knows it or can find it let me know too.

summit racing carries nitrous kits. They're much cheaper and easier to install than all the N/A parts. Just don't get too crazy with the jetting.

zx2racing.com IS zxtuner.com haha

my bad i didnt even catch that, i was just typing them in as i remembered them... some i havnt been to in a few months. the cost of some of these things makes me feel like :eek7: just over the prices. so im taking time off on modding, mostly for lack of funds reason, and the fact that its -10 below today.

well some zx2 parts you can only get from Rob (zxtuner)

and many can be found other places cheaper.

HA! :boink: found it. as i was saying if you are a poor bastard, or become one through buying the wrong mods, then having to de-equip them, for whatever your reason< ie me. this is a decent site to look at. it pretty much covers the gambit. look at it... it might save you some cash, even though some of it will look homemade, and not as professional as you want, it could still help.

http://exchange.ucop.edu/zx2/index.html < lemme know if it doesnt get you there.

i know, the guy quit in like 2001, but the info is still helpful. i didnt even think about pulling that lower resonator or the upper till i read the article. and its not written too complicated to people with less tech knowledge then us can do it.

tripping the iac and ect will only make it run rich (advances the timing, dumps more fuel) and the ect will only say the car is running cold. If you use this for a period of time the computer will adjust itself and possibly overheat.

why will it overheat? your coolant sensor should still trip the fan right? and your stat will still open.
