I don't check my spare tires air often enough, even though it's easy to get too.

And I know that I'm not the only one here that doesn't

Anyways I did check it yesterday, and discovered that it only had 5 PSI.
Not high enough if required.

Just a good thing that I didn't need it in the middle of no-where.

I get what your sayin man i didnt even have to check mine to know it needed air. I was putting a new tire cover on the spare and I realized that with my thumb i could push the tire down at least an inch.

I haven't checked mine for 9 years now.
I had the cover off of it once. Just never needed to use it. I got the rear hatch mounted swing-out unit.
Think I can make it another 9 years?

If i do need it i got me a full size spare now. I had a flat one time out camping 3 hours from home. Had to come home with fix a flat in the tire because i just did not trust an undersize spare tire on the Interstate.

I don't know how those space savers would mess up my posi rear end, but I can't see it being pretty

I always carry a portable air compressor that plugs into the cigerette lighter as part of my emergency preparedness kit. I also carry a tire plug kit, flashlight, light sticks, jumper cables, a tow strap, a piece of rope, wire coat hangers, duct tape, RTV silicone, teflon tape, adjustable wrench, multi tip screwdriver, vise grips, hacksaw, first aid kit and a fire extinguisher. In the winter I carry a snow shovel, blankets, food, and some instant heat packs.

Sounds like the entire garage (minus the beer refrigerator)

Do you have any room for a passenger in the car?

Most of it fits inside my center console, I've removed the CD holder and covered the hole with a piece of lexan. The hacksaw fits under the jack cover.

I carry most of the stuff that you do hunter, altough I haven't gotten the first aid kit or the fire extinguisher.

I don't like those cig lighter air compressors. I've got 1 in my car and it took 20 min jut to get enough air in that small tire to get to the filling station.
I'm looking into installing a second air conditioner compressor just for that reason on the Blazer. (unless I can somehow tap 2 systems into the 1 compressor)

In the winter I also carry a set of chains, med sized floor jack, extra oil, and antifreeze This is all stored right over my rear tires in a HUGE tupperware container. It's pretty well stuffed to capacity,

i checked my spare about a month ago, and had to add about 3psi. the rim its on has rust pits all over it. The only thing i carry in my truck is a first aid kit, and now, an ice scraper and small shovel. i have a portable compressor i got from target but it doesn't do shit, just makes a hell of a lot of noise.

I agree they do take a long time, but if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere it's a good thing to have. I like the idea of turning an AC compressor into an air compressor, but I think you have to keep them lubricated with oil in the refrigerant.

I checked my spare tire and it had 9 psi in it. I looked on the spare and it sayed to fill it to 60 psi, is this ok, or should I do less? 60 psi just doesn't sound right to me.

Look in your owners manual.
I run my tires at about 32psi.

60 is the max pressure, and if you inflate your tires that high you'll wear out the middle.

60 psi is the maximum pressure rating for the tire. Your tires should be inflated according to the vehicle manufacturers recommended pressure for that vehicle. I keep my tires at 35 psi. On sand I lower them to 15 psi.

I run my regular tires at about 32psi also, I was just wondering why it said on the spare tire to inflate it to 60 psi since its much smaller than my regular sized tires.

Sorry, the first thing that I do with those space saver spares is replace them with a full sized spare.

I can't answer that one. I forgot that they even exist.

It could be a space saver or "donut" I wasn't aware that Blazers came with them. If it says to fill to 60 psi than thats what you should do. However If you have room for a full size spare I would highly recommend you go to a junk yard and get one. If you have to use the donut make sure you use it on a rear wheel. If the flat is on the front put the donut on the back and move the rear tire to the front. They don't stop very well or corner very well. It should have a maximum speed rating on the side of the tire, something like 45 mph.

Yah that would be a good idea to put a new regular sized spare on but I don't want to buy a new rim and tire when I may never need it. I would rather wait and buy a new tire when something happens, the spare will get me to the tire shop. I live in the middle of a big city and rarely go to the middle of nowhere so The regular size rim/tire isn't practical for me.
