1996 1.0L needs engine -- Can I use 1995 JDM?ssybert 02-10-2006, 02:36 PM I've got a blown head gasket on my 96. I'm seeing 1995 engines on line selling for $500 shipped to my door (new england). Wondering if I can use the popular 89-95 drop in replacement for my 1996? Thanks, Scott leonbentz 02-10-2006, 09:04 PM sure. Thanks, Scott The diffrence, I believe, is the crank sensor. Figure out how to take it off your motor and install it on the earlier one and it should work. crazyinkc 02-13-2006, 01:49 PM You will need to swap the oil pan, oil pump, sensor and crank gear off the 96. The 95 does not have a crank sensor. Make sure you use silicone or a real thin gasket on the pan or you will have too much air gap on the crank sensor and it won't start. Also make sure you use red loctite on the crank bolt so it wont come loose. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
